Some notes to the attenuation of shielding fabric „Naturell“ in the present circumstances: On February 2010 (for the introduction of our Naturell "-240” and "-240-PLUS”) we authorized Prof. Pauli at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Munich, Germany to test and certificate the attenuation of all fabrics. Prof. Pauli is a leading expert in the field of high frequency -/ microwave-/ radar technology. Background: “Naturell” is being advertised with 40 - 50 dB almost everywhere but only few sellers obtained their own expert advice. They refer to a certificate of the year 2002. For years we have also been declaring “Naturell” with 40 dB to avoid competitive disadvantage. There´s an end of it: “Naturell” has two measuring curves – one with 40 dB and one with 35 dB at 1 GHz, measured in horizontal and vertical direction of polarisation. But due to the fact that high-frequency radiation never radiates exactly in one direction of polarisation you always get the inferior curve in practice. So if somebody offers you “Naturell” with 50 dB - mistrust is warranted! On the whole, attenuation figures are being rounded up a little bit. You also read terms like “up to” or declared values like f.e. 200 MHz which, however, is of no relevance when you have to protect from mobile phone towers. Granted: Our declared attenuation values at 1 GHz do not necessarily make sense when it comes to UMTS which transmits up to 2.2 GHz. Where would you buy your “Naturell” fabric? From YSHIELD with 32 dB or from company XY with 50 dB? Summary 1: You can trust our specifications and measurement graphs implicitly for all products! And even more: from now on we will test all products once a year to register any production changes on the part of the manufacturer. Summary 2: “Naturell” has 35 dB at 1 GHz. Summary 2: Our new “Naturell-240-Plus” has real 40 dB at 1 GHz in both directions of polarisation!
